Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead selects Zeta for LED street light upgrade

Zeta’s SmartScape Nano LED street light and SmartScape Heritage LED retro-fit solution for heritage lanterns, which are manufactured at the firm’s UK-based production facility, were deemed to offer the most competitive and efficient solution.

The contract win includes approximately 13,100 SmartScape Nano and 1,000 SmartScape Heritage retro-fit street lights, as well as a number of other products including Zeta Bespoke Subway Kits and Zeta SignLite retro-fit kits which will be deployed on all illuminated road signs.

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead was looking to reduce its annual street lighting budget, by saving on maintenance costs and energy bills. Zeta’s solution will deliver approximately a 70 per cent reduction in energy costs, together with a significant reduction in annual maintenance costs.

David Thompson, Commissioning & Contracts Lead, Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead said: “The new lights deliver superior illumination, require little or no maintenance and are much more energy efficient. In addition to the tangible cost savings, they will also help us to reduce our carbon footprint and improve the overall quality and reliability of lighting throughout the Borough.”

Zeta is working together with independent street lighting installer AA Lighting Ltd to project manage the roll-out which includes conducting site surveys and creating lighting designs on a street by street basis. Work to install the new LED street lights across the Borough is well underway and is expected to be complete by the end of the year. All lights and associated products have been fitted with the Telensa control system which will provide real-time reporting of the lights’ condition and provide an ability to dim or increase the lighting output if required.

Zeta has built two custom production lines in its Bicester manufacturing facility, invested in new test equipment and recruited ten additional staff to manage the project.
