Solar Street light from Zeta wins prestigious award

The Bicester-based developer and manufacturer of LED and solar-powered lighting solutions was judged an outright winner in the 2017 Elektra Awards. Zeta’s Solis Nano street and area light, which combines the firm’s SolisPole, an innovative system specifically designed to capture and store solar power, with its SmartScape Nano LED luminaire, received the ‘Renewable Energy Design Award’ within the Product Technologies category.

This versatile solar lighting solution includes technologically advanced photovoltaic cells that are incorporated into the frame of the pole and mounted vertically to provide a unique solution for optimum solar capture. Zeta’s intelligent Energy Management System optimises energy capture and continually monitors the maintenance-free batteries’ condition to ensure year-round reliability. A PIR motion sensor can also be integrated to further conserve energy.

The Solis Nano utilises Cree® COB (chip-on-board) LED technology, ensuring superior lumen output, lumen maintenance, efficiency and even light distribution. Featuring silicone lens technology and offering five lens options, the Solis Nano provides a range of beam angles to accommodate varying customer requirements.

Managing Director Adrian Dennis said: “Solar-powered LED solutions address a number of key issues currently front of mind for clients in both the public and private sectors – the need to reduce energy consumption and lower environmental impact, as well as the requirement to remove the cost and time constraints associated with laying cabling for mains-powered lights. With the recent advances in lumen output made by Cree, we have been able to harness our expertise in solar technology to develop cutting-edge solutions to light up residential roads and streets.”

Zeta’s CEO Phil Shadbolt added: “We have been designing and developing LED and solar-powered solutions for almost three decades and are extremely proud to have received this prestigious award recognising our innovation.”
